This project addresses the challenges of mobility impairment among the aging U.S. population by presenting a novel robotic companion—a walker-type mobile robot. The robot enhances user mobility and safety by maintaining the user at its center for protection and offering potential power assistance. Equipped with a 3D computer vision system, the robot eliminates the need for physical contact or wearable sensors, enabling users to walk freely with minimal disruption to their natural gait and reducing the physical and cognitive demands of traditional assistive devices.
